flat as a tyre

i just had my first flat tyre today!!! I was just leaving my home on my bike for the computer class when I felt my bike act funny. At first I thought the tyres had come loose or something.. So I stopped, and without getting off the bike, took a quick look. The tyres seemed to be held firmly in place. I rode more cautiously but I still felt this wobble!.. Only after some intense deliberation did it occur to me that it could be the tyres! So I turned to look at the back tyre, and sure enough it was totally flat!

Now that I had figured the problem, I needed to find a place that had the solution. But i didn't know any place nearby. So I just went wobbling around until I found a small vehicle workshop. The guy said he could fix it. I looked at my watch 9.15! My class begins at 9.00 but I usually leave home around 9.05 so that I can get to the institute by 9.15. well this is because, nothing really happens in the first 15 mins of class... and why rob myself of some extra minutes of sleep? And in any case, once my spanish classes restart from sunday, i can't make it to the institute by 9.15 anyway.

well.. getting back to the flat tyre, i asked this guy how much time it would take and he said "20 minutes"... umm ok. i decided to wait.

he was finally done at 9.35! very punctual. "how much?" i asked. "bis rupaiyah (Rs. 20)" he said. so i reached into my pocket for my wallet and... wait.. where's my wallet? my wallet wasn't there!! damn! so i said "look, it seems like i've left my wallet at home... i'll be right back." i'd decided to take a taxi home and be back with the money. just as i was abt to leave he said "don't u have ANY money at all? not even a few rupees?".. "none." he thought for a second and said "ok go get your wallet. take the bike."

i was sooo thankful. i raced home.. located my wallet and raced back. i handed him rs. 100 since i'd no change.. but he only returned rs. 70!.. "how much did u say it cost again?" i asked. "tis rupaiyah (Rs. 30)" he replied! ok...

i don't know if he lied to me the second time or if i heard it wrong the first time, but i was fine with it. 30 sounded pretty reasonable to me.. actually it was lesser than i expected to pay!.. moreover he trusted me (or i'd also have to pay for the cab too) and i was grateful for that!

it was already 9.50 by then though.. so i raced to the institute.. only to find that more than half the class was absent today and so the teacher was recappin on last day's classwork!!

not so merry

Merry Christmas all!

it's been quite a while since i last posted. but i've been really busy. and believe me, i tried posting the day before yesterday but when i was halfway through, the electricity went out! when the electricity was back, i didn't feel like writing the whole thing again.

anyway, it's been a busy busy week. i'm so fed up with college applications that i don't care if i don't get into any college anymore!! ok just kidding. but it really did get me frustrated. mailing the apps was just as frustrating as filling the applications themselves. i mailed 9 applications last week. one was mailed using 'express mail service' so it didn't take long but sticking 19 stamps each on the rest of the envelopes while standing stooping over a low table wasn't exactly comfortable!

i don't want to sound all whiny but i still have two essays to write by new year's day!!

aaahhh.. help me santa!

deferred

Dear braindead,

After careful consideration of your application to the University of Pennsylvania for the Class of 2010, the Admissions Selection Committee has decided to defer the final decision until the Regular Decision notification date in April. I realize that you must be disappointed by this delay, but I want to assure you that this should not be interpreted as a denial.

The Admissions Committee recommends this action when we wish more time and additional information before we begin the re-evaluation of your application. Because we want to give your candidacy the fullest consideration, I ask that you send us a mid-year report of your first semester grades and any additional College Board or ACT test scores that you will have taken through January 2006.

If you have any questions, or if this office can be of any assistance to you during the coming months, please do not hesitate to call upon us.

Sincerely,

Willis J. Stetson, Jr.
Dean of Admissions

waiting.... it's excruciating

7 hours till i get my Penn ED decision!!!

i'm soooo nervous... freaked out... anxious.... everything!

ahhhhhh... i'm hoping for a miracle here. i applied to Penn as a big reach and i know it shouldn't be surprising if i'm rejected/deferred, still... i'll be really dejected if i don't get in. i've prepared myself for a rejection letter, but i would be in denial if i said it wouldn't bother me!

i need a miracle.... i'm making belated wishes to those shooting stars i mentioned in my previous post!

but i've to be realistic! why didn't i start on my RD applications earlier? :(

make a wish

has been a pretty interesting week... after an interesting weekend!

last saturday i attended a first cousin's wedding. was a lot of fun. the main proceedings were over by midnight but some of us decided to stretch the fun till morning. so we (i helped by stayin out of the way) built a fire first since the night was really cold and huddled around it with lots of food and beer to keep us awake! time flew by until it was 3 in the morning and the beer was finished! [my bro only let me down a mug or two of beer btw :( ] people started falling asleep and within half an hour, only a few of us were left sitting by the fire. i lied down on my back watching the night sky riddled with white dots (with glasses, the stars don't sparkle as much!)... when i saw a noticeably larger white dot materialize, whiz across and vanish.. all this in about a second! super cool!! i was just thinking about how lucky i was to have seen a shooting star, when i saw another one!!! yes a second shooting star within a gap of a few minutes!! :D ... then i later realized (well, i was reminded actually), that i should've made a wish! :( i forgot to!

oh and the paragraph above is probably the longest ever paragraph i've ever written in my life!! my paragraphs are usually much shorter!

anyway... umm.. i'm doing spanish in the morning these days. it's pretty cool! and i started computer (actionscript) classes from today! but the teacher was sooo boring!! i hope i can survive his classes for the rest of the month!

and... there's less than a week before i get my admission decision from Penn!!!!!!!! from my use of exclamation marks, it looks like i'm soo excited! but actually, i'm neither excited nor nervous! i guess tht feeling will come only a day or two before the decision date!! :)

ok then... byee.. adios! hasta la vista!
